GEN William “Scott” Wallace
Overview
GEN Wallace retired from the United States Army on December 8, 2008, after serving for 39 years. GEN Wallace’s final command was as the Commanding General for the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Fort Monroe in Virginia. GEN Wallace assumed command of TRADOC on October 13, 2005 and was responsible for creating a plan of action for the future of TRADOC involving the training of future Army forces as well as the development of operational doctrine. While in command of TRADOC, GEN Wallace helped publish Field Manual 3.0, Operations, which discussed the future of the Army operating in an era of persistent conflict, involving simultaneous offense, defense, and stability towards our initiatives.
Prior to his command at TRADOC, GEN Wallace held numerous commands beforehand including 4th Battalion, 68th Armor at Fort Bragg; Squadron Command in the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Germany; 55th Colonel of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment; Commander of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood; and Commander of V Corps in Germany and Iraq. Following his retirement in 2008, GEN Wallace has stayed active in the defense community, serving as a board member for Oshkosh Corp, taking a director position in 2011 with CACI International, and acting as an independent consultant for various organizations and businesses involved with the Department of Defense.
