Overview
BG Tim Coffin retired from the U.S. Army in 2017 after serving more than 35 years on active duty. BG Coffin’s last duty was as the Commanding General, White Sands Missile Range, NM. There, he was responsible for over 2,400 Space, Nuclear, Missile Defense, High Energy Laser Hypersonic, Network Integration, and Cyber Test and Evaluation events supporting a wide variety of critical National systems to include, F-35, B2, AEGIS, Patriot and the “Offset Strategy” systems for Army, Navy, Air Force, Special Operations, NASA, DTRA, NRO, MDA, allies, commercial and classified customers. BG Coffin served as the Army’s premier Space Expert.
As one of the initial members of the Army’s Space Professional Cadre, he was selected to be the first commander of the Army’s First Space Battalion. He built future Space and Missile Defense Doctrines, Organizations, Training, Cadre, Sustainment and Basing for Space and Missile Defense forces while serving as the Army Staff lead for Space, Missile Defense and Nuclear matters and as the Director for Combat Development, in the Army’s Future Warfare Center for Space and Missile Defense. In his last position, he provided testing and evaluation of next generation Patriot, Standard Missile, Laser and Hypersonic Air Defenses.
